RILA and LQ Initiate a New Partnership
LQ is pleased to announce it has formed new partnership with RILA, The Retail Industry Leaders Association.
RILA’s membership can look forward to receiving LQ at its conferences and enjoying a new column to be inaugurated in 2009. RILA’s column will be prepared by senior members of RILA’s executive team who will be sharing their insights on best practices and trends in supply chain management in the retail industry.

The findings confirm previous research that was sponsored by CSCMP and the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) Association. The research was conducted by the Information Technology Research Institute at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas. Presenters will include Pam Sweeney, senior vice president systems, Macy’s logistics and operations, Roger Blazek, vice president, shortage control Bloomingdale’s, and Norm Veit, executive vice president, MIS for Jones Apparel Group, Inc.

LQ Announcement: Ray Tribe

LQ is pleased to announce that Ray Tribe has accepted LQ’s invitation to join its Advisory Board.
Ray Tribe is Director of Operations at Lynden International Logistics in Toronto, Canada. Ray’s responsibilities focus on leading the one of the largest Canadian 3PL networks of pharmaceutical and consumer health distribution centres. With the growing need for balance between compliance and cost containment in this industry, he is deploying a variety of people development strategies and best in class supply chain tools. Previously, Ray was Manager of Distribution Strategy at Johnson & Johnson Medical Products. Prior to entering the medical device and pharmaceutical industry, Ray's career was based in distribution, manufacturing, supply planning and product commercialization with Kraft Canada Inc., Coca Cola Ltd. and American Standard. Ray blends his skills in supply chain with his passion for instructing in the field of leadership development, coaching and Emotional Intelligence. He is a member of the Logistics Quarterly Magazine Advisory Board; a Professional Engineer graduating from McMaster University in Civil Engineering & Management; and holds a Certificate of Executive Supply Chain & Logistics Management from Schulick School of Business at York University.

Sarah Friesen is the president of Friesen Concepts Inc., an independent consulting practice specializing in healthcare supply chain solutions. Areas of focus include supply chain transformation, professional development and project facilitation.
Sarah is currently on assignment with the Healthcare Supply Chain Network, providing oversight to two projects: 1) assessing the readiness of Ontario hospitals to implement metrics and standards as defined by the Ontario Ministry of Finance BPS Supply Chain Secretariat; and 2) developing a training program for strategic sourcing professionals in healthcare organizations.
Sarah’s prior experience includes the role of Vice President Operations at Plexxus, one of the shared services organizations supporting Ontario hospitals, where her focus was on optimizing service to members through the creation of an integrated supply chain. Sarah gained her many years of purchasing and supply chain experience in both the public and private sectors, where her primary focus has been on supply chain re-engineering.
Sarah sits as a board member for the Healthcare Supply Chain Network and for Shared Services West. She lectures on healthcare supply chain topics at various educational institutions.

A former paratrooper and military logistics officer, he has an M.A. degree in Trade and Logistics from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. He was, most recently, Vice President, Supply Management for a US $ 1.0 billion multiproduct manufacturer until its recent purchase by a private equity group. He speaks English, French and Chinese, and is currently an independent consultant in Asian and emerging markets supply chain management.
